Military Service: Training for Excellence
During my time in the Army, I trained all special operations and
light infantry soldiers on how to survive even the most difficult
missions. It was tough work, but well worth it because I knew it
would allow our U.S. soldiers to protect Americans better and come
home alive when they were done. As my time in the military was
ending, I wanted to do more for my fellow soldiers.
Law School and Service to Veterans
After leaving the military, I pursued my lifelong dream of
becoming a lawyer. I came to Florida in 2015 and have lived in the
Tampa Bay Area since 2019. During my time in law school, I
volunteered with numerous groups including the Hillary Campaign
doing voter protection and also the ACLU defending the rights of
Americans. In that time, I also worked with the Department of
Veterans Affairs to help veterans understand their rights and
benefits once their military service was over. I was proud of the
work I did to get our veterans the benefits they deserve and
wanted to continue this service for all Americans.
Prosecutor: Fighting for Justice
After leaving law school, I joined the State Attorney's Office in
the 9 Judicial Circuit, working as a prosecutor. Ultimately, my
experience there is what allowed me to land my dream job at the
Internal Revenue Service.
Federal Watchdog: Exposing Tax Fraud
I knew that the tax system was unfair and unjust. But I needed to
understand exactly how and why. Soon after I joined the IRS, I
worked in the Estate and Gift Tax program. It focused on the tax
forms of the richest and wealthiest Americans, the ones worth $30
million or more. Much of my work handled people worth $500 million
or more.
I witnessed firsthand the tactics and methods the super-rich used
to avoid tax laws and not pay their fair share. I saw daily how
too many members of Congress favored those at the top and ensured
they were entitled to avoid taxes. These were breaks and benefits
that were NOT available to everyday, hard-working American
families. I learned how most of these mega-rich Americans did not
earn their money through hard work, like the rest of us. They did
not start companies and create jobs. They were given their money
and they only worked to avoid the taxes the rest of us must pay.
I wanted these ultra-rich Americans to pay their fair share. My
IRS colleagues and I were working to make that happen.
Unfortunately, Trump and his administration gutted the IRS. They
fired and dismissed all of my colleagues who wanted to enforce the
law and lower the national debt. Then they fired veterans and
other hard-working Americans who worked to improve education,
provide for our farmers, and protect our military members. Instead
of creating a government that works for us, they created one that
works against us and makes it more difficult to access the
services millions of Americans need daily.
Running for Congress: Making America Work for You
I am running for Congress to make America work for my fellow
Floridians in the 13th district. I want them to have more money in
their pockets, a better education for their children, health care
they can afford, and a comfortable retirement in their later
years. But I need your help to make that happen. Then, together,
we will find the federal resources to provide for us in the 13th
district. You deserve it and I plan to make that happen.
Thank you.
